louder than words

One of the most valuable life lessons- actions speak louder than words. This basically means the value of one's actions are more important than the value of their words. You can say you mean something but until you actually do it and act it out, it doesn't mean anything. When an individual uses words, it is much easier to lie. However, actions strongly correlate to what someone truly means or believes. This is why actions speaks louder than words- they show the truth of what someone believes.
A phrase that I have heard a lot during my life is, "I'm sorry." This is always what people say when they have done something wrong or upset someone. People's instinct is to say, "it's ok." This is just like how we say, "how are you?" "good, how are you?" Are you actually good or are you just saying that? When someone says "I'm sorry," it is often followed by "I'll never do it again" or "I'll do better I promise."
I am all for giving second chances, but eventually it gets to a point where their 'sorry' doesn't mean anything to you anymore. It is much easier to lie when using words. Getting an apology over and over again without actions making a change means nothing. At that point, it is just a phrase they are saying with no meaning. Actions speak louder than words, so if you say you are going to do something then do it.
Recently, I have been dealing with someone in my life saying 'I'm sorry' over and over again. Lately that has been the only thing coming out of their mouth. This was one of my closest friends at the time so I always made sure to accept the apology. However, things only got worse. We eventually ended up barely speaking to each other anymore and I was always hearing the promise, "I'll do better, I am sorry." Like I said before, actions speak louder than words. I found myself forgiving the person time after time, but nothing was changing. This situation taught me the valuable lesson that you are what you do.
This past Sunday at my church, we talked about what you say vs how you are living. If you are saying one thing on how to live to others and then acting the opposite, then what is the value of your opinion?
PRACTICE WHAT YOU PREACH.
God has put you in certain areas for you to serve as His ambassador. It is important to know God's word enough where you can know what is being taught aligns with Him. Make sure Christ is the center of you home AND your heart. If you are in Christ, you have a sermon to preach- so preach it.
Actions speak louder than words because they demonstrate, rather than simply tell. When someone is taking action, it shows that they are invested in the outcome and believe in what they are doing. So next time you apologize or make a promise, make sure you actually do it. Hold yourself accountable and always give grace:)
